World Press Photo

Espen Rasmussen

Although I enjoy taking pictures, I don’t have a special talent for it. The photographers who sent in their photos to the World Press Photo jury sure do! Only until half a year ago, when I visited an exhibition of World Press Photo winners of ’06 in Copenhagen, I found out that the organisation behind this great annual press photography contest is Dutch. This makes me love it even more :-)

The winners of 2007 were announced in February already, and today the exhibition tour, featuring many prizewinning photos, started in the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. The exhibition will be in many cities around the world. If you would like to see if the exhibition comes in a city near you, click here.

  1. The April 22 NY Times just ran an article featuring photos by Richard Barnes of the flight patterns starlings created in the skies over Rome, much like the last picture you posted. They’re all in b&w, but really amazing nonetheless. Glad that the World Press Photo exhibition will be coming to NY in May :)

  2. Kevin, I just checked out the article you mentioned and you’re right! And because of the b&w, it makes the starlings more sinister then they are in these color photos. All I can say is enjoy the exhibition, wish I could see it in NY too :-)
